Willard Joseph Bannister the son of George P. and Sara Louise (Madden) Bannister was born May 25, 1916 in Ringsted, Jack Creek Township, Iowa. He died Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of 90. He was baptized at the Halfa Presbyterian Church where he was later an elder. He started school at Wells, Minnesota and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1933. He worked for Midwest Service Co. in Hardy, Iowa, from 1933 to 1934. In 1935 he worked in Bremer County, Iowa. From 1936 to 1941 he worked for and farmed with Leonard Madden. He married Geraldine Boyd on March 22, 1941 in Fairmont, Minnesota. They farmed and lived in Jack Creek Township until 1967. They then moved to Jackson County, Minnesota, where they farmed until 1975. When he retired in 1975, he lived the rest of his life on the farm, except for 4 years in Tennessee. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Willard's memory is his wife, Maya (Lee) Bannister of Dunnell, Minnesota; his children, Dr. Robert Bannister and his wife, Janice of Des Moines; Virginia Cramble and her husband, Ray of Fridley, Minnesota; Paul Bannister and his wife, Gloria of Rockford, Minnesota; four grandsons; four granddaughters; one step granddaughter; one step grandson; three great granddaughters; and one great grandson. He has been preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Verle; and an adopted sister, Berneta Hiene.
