William Duffy, son of Robert and Nancy Duffy was born at Tompsonville, Conn. January 15th, 1849; died at his home near Rowan May 6th 1932, age 83 yrs, 3 mo’s. 21 days. When a child he moved with his parents to Wright Co. Iowa, settling on a farm near Fryburg now Rowan, where he grew to manhood. On November 30th 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Perry who preceded him in death 17 years. To this union were born three children: William A. and two who died in infancy. Mr. Duffy leaves to mourn his death, one son, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Roberta Berryhill, of LaPorte City, Iowa. Mr. Duffy united with the first Congregational Church of Rowan April 29th, 1891. He has held various offices, and was a life Deacon at his death.
