Funeral services for Tim Trees, 68, Webster City, were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church, Webster City, with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Clear Lake.

Tim Pinkerton Trees, son of Vern and Violet Starnes Trees, was born Dec. 8, 1938 at Belmond. He attended rural schools in Wright county and Belmond Public School, graduating in 1956. On Nov. 22, 1958, he married Marylyn Lee Myers at the Memorial Chapel at Ames. He attended Iowa State University in 1962 receiving a degree in agriculture and taught vocational agriculture at Stockport (2 years), Creston (2 years), then Ventura (9 years). He received his Masters in Education in 1967. He had been self-employed as a farm manager and a real estate broker.

Tim is survived by his wife, Marylyn; son and daughter-in-law, David and Eija Trees of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Dena Trees of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matt and Maggie Trees; brother, Alan Trees and his wife, Alice of Winfield; cousin, Sally Kennedy and her husband, Lloyd of Clear Lake, several nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Trees; nephew, Terry Trees; niece, Cindy Robe; aunt, Jessie Sarber.

He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, was active in Future Farmers of America, a FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer for many years, won FFA Leadership Awards for many years, was an Iowa State University Alumni Association member, was a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, regional winner for outstanding soil and water conservation, was Farm Manager of the Year for 2001 and 2002, Governors’s Volunteer Award for 1997 and 1998, former president of Asbury Preschool.
