Charles W. Steimlosk, 80, a former resident of Clear Lake and long-time resident of the Belmond Health Care Center, died Monday, October 1, 2001 at the Health Care Center in Belmond. A memorial service was held in Plymouth, MI, where Mr. Steimlosk resided for more than 30 years.

Charles Steimlosk was born December 7, 1920, in Trenton, MI, the son of Peter F. and Alice (Giddens) Steimlosk. During World War II, Charles served in the United States Army 9th Infantry Division in France and Germany, from December 1943 until July 1946, when honorably discharged as a Technician 5th Grade. Charles participated in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest. France awarded him the Liberty Medal for the Normandy Invasion. He had received various other medals during his military service. Mr. Steimlosk was a master electrician and member of the IBEW, Local 58 in Detroit, MI for more than 50 years. Charles was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Adeline Steimlosk of Kokomo, IN; daughters, Hazel Bimer of West Bloomfield, MI, and Sheila Perl of Toronto, Canada; his son, Charles of Traverse City, MI; his step-children: John Hannula of Atlanta, GA; Thomas Hannula of Logansville, GA; Kay Rehkopf of Kokomo, IN and Jane Hannula, of Atascadero, CA; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
