ALDEN, Iowa —Alma C. McElvania, 92, of Alden, died on Monday, March 16, 2009, at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 19, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls, with burial in the Northlawn Memory Gardens. Alma Celia McElvania, was born on July 2, 1916 in Dows, the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Gardalen) Christensen. She was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church of Dows. She was united in marriage to Howard McElvania on February 3, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was a member of the Popejoy Senior Center and the Popejoy Improvement Club.

Alma is survived by her three daughters, Marlys (Walter) Moore of Dows, Janna (Adrian) DeLeon of Westminster, California and Raynette (Archie) Anderson of Alden; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Christensen of Marshalltown, La Verne Christensen of Popejoy and Andrew Christensen Jr. of Arizona; and a sister, Velma Fuller of Popejoy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; and two brothers.
