BELMOND, IA -- Kathleen Kay Didio, 45, passed away Saturday (May 18, 1996) as a result of an auto accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson officiating. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Kathy was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Donna Benson Slining. She attended school in Goodell and Belmond, graduating from Belmond High School in 1968. She then attended nursing school in Des Moines. In 1969, she was united in marriage with Jeff Modderman. He passed away in 1973. On March 5, 1977, she was united in marriage with Dennis Didio in Belmond, Iowa. She worked for several years as a lab tech at USS Agri-Chem, and worked for the past six years as the director of medical records at the Belmond Community Hospital. Kathy enjoyed flowers and plants. She also enjoyed collecting hummingbirds in pictures and plates. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Belmond. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family. She is remembered as having a general concern for everyone and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Dennis of Belmond; her daughter, Diena and her husband, Daren Mennenga of Belmond; her son, Ryan, at home; her father and stepmother, Robert and Martha Slining of Belmond; one sister, Roxanne Patterson of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Lynn Slining of Des Moines, Iowa; one stepsister, Delorys and her husband, Marvin Lonnevik of Britt; two stepbrothers, Lyle and his wife, Sandra Kling of Seneca, S.C., and Kendall and his wife, Susan Kling, of Belmond. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna, in 1970; and her first husband, Jeff, in 1973.
