12 January 1862 -- 7 November 1950

David Freeman Hunt died Tuesday at his home in Sparta. He was born January 12, 1862, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He married Mary E. Willey in Goodell, Iowa, January 28, 1887. To them eight children were born. Two children preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Hunt, four daughters, Mrs. A. K. Allen of Sparta, Mrs. C. H. Ellison and Mrs. C. S. Banks of Springfield, and Mrs. R. A. Ellison of Ava; two sons, Freeman F. of Sparta and David W. of Rogers, Arkansas; three half brothers, L.H. Wilson of Goodell, Iowa, Henry Wilson of Neosho, and Garfield Wilson of Grants Pass, Oregon, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Hunt’s family moved from northern Iowa to a farm near Ava in October 1908, and from there to Sparta in March 1918. Mr. Hunt was a member of the Sparta Baptist church. Funeral services were conducted at the church Wednesday by the pastor, the Rev. E.N. Webb. Burial was in the Sparta cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home.
