April 14, 2009COTTAGE GROVE, OR - Alan Lynn "Al" Mesik of Cottage Grove died March 14 of complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 61. A private service will be held later. He was born July 5, 1947, in Clarion, Iowa, to George and Mildred Dishman Mesik. He married Theresa Fagan on May 28, 1970, in Fort Monmouth, N.J. They divorced in 1983. He married Suzan Stern on Oct. 2, 1992, in Vida. Mesik attended Webster City High School, the Army Institute of Technology and Arizona State University. He served in the Army as a specialist from 1969 to 1972. He worked as an artisan in leather and wood and on electronic components and was affiliated with Eugene Saturday Market.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Angela Krieger of Dakota City, Iowa, and Aimee Cardwell of Lake City, Iowa; two sons, Jacob Rouner and Lucas Rouner, both of Kapaa, Hawaii; a sister, Becky Mesik of Battle Creek, Mich.; a brother, George Jr. of Blue Springs, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Arrangements by Alpha Immediate Cremation Services in Springfield. Remembrances to The Nature Conservancy.
