MASON CITY, IA-- Mrs. Nelle Elizabeth Coffin Wittmer, 85, of White Oaks Manor, died July 30, 1996 at her residence. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 13, 1996) in the Eicker Church Chapel, Washington, Iowa, with interment following at the Eicker Church Cemetery. Mrs. Wittmer, a native of Mason City, was a graduate of Rockwell High School and Iowa State Teachers College. She was the daughter of the late George Henry and Anna Sadler Coffin. Mrs. Wittmer and her late husband, Willis Peter Wittmer, were music and band instructors in the Rockwell and Mason City School systems. She also gave private music lessons. Mr. and Mrs. Wittmer were involved with the Masonic Order and the Eastern Star. She was a member of Renwick United Methodist Church in Renwick, Iowa, where both she and Mr. Wittmer were active in the church choir. After her retirement from the school system she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. and taught music in her own studio.

In addition to her husband, Willis, Mrs. Wittmer was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia. She is survived by her sons, Larry Wittmer of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Jerry Wittmer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Williams-Dearborn Funeral Service of Matthew, N.C. is assisting the Wittmer family.
