Dr. James A. Hardinger of Boone, Iowa, died suddenly Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Boone County Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father Brian Danner will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Monday, from 5- 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., at St. John's Catholic Church. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
James Armand Hardinger was born on Nov. 17, 1947, in Versailles, France, the son of Dayne and Simone (Franke) Hardinger. He was a graduate of Clarion High School, Clarion, Iowa, received his B.A. degree from Central Missouri State, and went on to receive his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University. Dr. Hardinger has practiced family medicine in Boone for 32 years. In 2003, he was united in marriage to his wife, Maggie, at the couple's home in Boone. Dr. Hardinger was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Gun Club and Mike Martin's Hunting Club out of Luther, Iowa. Jim was also a fan of high school wrestling and was proud to have served as the physician at the Iowa High School's State Wrestling Tournament for a number of years. In 1997, he was inducted as Grand Marshal at the annual state wrestling tournament. Dr. Hardinger was actively involved in numerous medical organizations.
Survivors include his wife Maggie Hardinger of Boone; children, Mandy (Hardinger) (Robert) Busch of Boone, Justin (Heather) Hardinger of Ankeny, Iowa, Amanda Wassenaar, Emily Wassenaar, and Nick Wassenaar all of Ogden, Iowa; four grandchildren, Drew, Jenna, Lauren, and Isaac Weers; one granddaughter, Ella, to arrive in May; and two brothers, Rick Hardinger of Ankeny, Iowa, and Gary (Donna) Hardinger of Strong City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Sprecher; and grandsons, James and Dane Sprecher. Memorials may be left to the Iowa Kidney Foundation.
