KANAWHA - Stella Baker, 92, of Kanawha, passed away Monday (March 9, 2009) at the Kanawha Community Home. Funeral services for Stella Baker will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at Wright Christian Reformed Church, south of Kanawha, with Pastor Chuck Walton officiating. Burial will take place at Wright Christian Reformed Cemetery. Visitation for Stella Baker will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the Ewing Funeral Home, 118 E. Second St. in Kanawha, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Stella was born Nov. 16, 1916, in Hancock County, the daughter of Al and Abbie Reikens Christians. She was married to Edward Baker on Nov. 23, 1939, and they farmed south of Kanawha. She moved to Kanawha in 1986. Stella was an active member of the Wright Christian Reformed Church, south of Kanawha. Stella is survived by two sons, Lewis Baker and his wife, Marcia, of Jenison, Mich., Albert Baker and his wife, Dawn, of Centennial, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Baker, of Champlin, Minn.; six grandchildren, Debra, Tony, Sandra, Sue, Mark and Dana; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Wessels; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Christians and a brother-in-law, Anco Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Baker; two sons, Alvin and Richard Baker; a grandson, Dean Baker; a brother, Henry Christians; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
