Lu Davis, 88, formerly of Clear Lake, died Nov. 11, 2008 in Ferdinand, Ind. Memorial services will be Saturday, Nov. 22, 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Michael Nash officiating. Visitation will be one half hour before the service. Family suggests memorials to Lu Davis Memorial Fund. Lu was born Aug. 17, 1920 in Belmond, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Emma (Nihoof) Stockwell. She graduated from Garner High School in 1938. Lu married Edward Davis on Nov. 16, 1946 in Nashua, Iowa. Lu worked for the Garner High School for five years as a secretary and then at Clear Lake High School as a secretary for 14 1/2 years. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Clear Lake. Lu is survived by her son, John Davis, Toledo, Ohio; grandson, Jeffrey Davis and his wife, Pam, St. Meinrad, Ind.; granddaughter, Kristie Niemi and her husband, Christopher, Maple Grove, Minn. and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Johnathon Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Carolyn Stricker; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Stockwell. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
