James A. Yungclas, 99, Fort Dodge, formerly of Webster City, died Sept. 19, 1992 at Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge. Service are 11 a.m. Monday at the Chapel On The Hill, Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge With the Rev. Don Kitterman officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery. Bruce’s Funereal Home in Fort Dodge is in charge of the arrangements. There is no visitation. James A. Yungclas was born July 3, 1893 at High View. He grew up in the High View area and graduated from Webster City high School in 1910. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1916 with a degree in engineering. In 1918, he entered the U.S. Army during World War I.
In 1928, he married Eloise Kershaw at Fort Dodge. He farmed in the Webster City area and worked for U.S.G. in Fort Dodge until 1932 when they moved to the Renwick area where he farmed until 1959. In 1980, they moved to Friendship Haven. His wife died in 1982. He is survived by sons, James A. of Spirit Lake, Richard P. of Ames and Jack of Des Moines; daughter Joanna Maricle of Worthington, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother Bill of Webster City. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pauline Peterson; and sister Claire Reck. He was a chapter (charter) member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Iowa State, American Legion and the United Methodist Church at Ventura.
