Alberta Kennedy, 89, Hot Springs, Arkansas, died March 2, 2009. Services were held March 5 at Bismarck United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Bruce Wiegand, Paul Meinert, John McAlpine, Burt McAlpine, Steve Spaeth, Pete Spaeth, Brenda Spaeth, Sara Cala, Rob Cetinich and Eric Cetinich. Graveside services were held March 7 in Stratford, Iowa. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Alberta was born in Dows on January 7, 1920, the youngest of seven siblings. She passionately believed in the value of education, and was a teacher in a country school in Wright County. In 1940 she married Ronald Kennedy. She was a farm wife, and later in life an active volunteer with hospice where she was named Volunteer of the Year in 1995. In 1989 Alberta moved to Hot Springs to be near her daughter Bobbie. On July 27, 2001 she married Roger Dwinell. She was preceded in death by her siblings and her husbands. Alberta is survived by her daughters Rachel (Don) Meinert of Tucson, AZ, Carol (Glenn) Wiegand of Appleton, WI, Bobbie (Harold) McAlpine of Bismarck, AR, and Linda Kennedy (Mike Cetinich) of Conifer, CO; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
