Donna B. (Murray) Bauer, 76, Newton died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the Hospice of Jasper County's Monarch Wing in Newton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.

The daughter of Leon and Ruby (Wade) Murray, Donna was born Feb. 29, 2009, in Goldfield, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School in 1951, and on June 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Vincent L. Bauer in Newton. Donna retired from the Vernon Company in 1996. She loved her family, and she especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of Newton. Survivors include her husband, Vincent of Newton; a daughter, Vivian M. Bauer-Sinclair of Milan, Mo.; two sons, V. Larry "Vinnie" Bauer Jr. of Newton and Randy (Rhonda) Bauer of Newton; seven grandchildren, Mark (Joy) Hatcher, Marta Hatcher-Sinclair and Matt Hatcher, all of Milan, Mo., and Lindy Bauer, Kristen Bauer, Rachel Bauer and Hope Bauer, all of Newton; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Avitt of Ankeny, Iowa, Gayle (Jack) Thomas of Sherwood, Ark., and Sharron (Bill) Seaman of Des Moines, Iowa; and a brother, Ron Murray of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marian Murray-Mikesell and Colleen Murray-Rasmussen.
