REMSEN, Iowa - Cyril Kramer, 95, of Remsen died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, Iowa. Private services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen, with the Rev. Craig Miller of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen officiating. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Mr. Kramer was born April 13, 1904, in Remsen, the son of George and Augusta (Earnest) Kramer. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen and remained a lifelong member. He attended Remsen Public School through the 11th grade and continued his education in Sioux City. He graduated from Morningside College on June 4, 1924, earning a degree in Business. He married Wilma Gunsell of Kanawha, Iowa, on June 20, 1929, at Stillwater, Minn. She died Nov. 1, 1999 in Remsen. He worked for Barney Baron of Sioux City as a meat cutter for four years while he attended college. He was a traveling salesman for a while with the New Home Sewing Machine Company. He took over ownership of Kramer's Market, which his grandfather had started in 1887. Cyril retired in 1966. After his retirement he worked approximately five years for Rhodes Greenhouse in Cherokee, Iowa, managing the Garden Shop for six weeks during the spring season. He moved to Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in May of 1999. He was a member of the Remsen Chamber of Commerce and the National Grocer's Association. He served a number of years as Financial Secretary for St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golf, traveling, baseball and music.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Kenneth Johnson of Forest City, Iowa, and Nancy and Dr. Michael Graham of Portland, Ore.; a son, Kay and his wife, State Sen. Mary Kramer, of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Velma Kramer of Reno, Nev. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Kramer. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church Piano Fund, Remsen, Iowa.
