IDA GROVE, Iowa - Leatrice D. Lorenzen, 71, of Ida Grove died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, Ariz. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Silver Creek United Methodist Church in rural Galva, Iowa, with the Rev. Doris Lindley officiating. Burial will be in Galva Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Lorenzen was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Anna (Sachau) Joy. She graduated from Correctionville High School as salutatorian, then attended Iowa State Teacher's College. She taught elementary school in Lakota, Eagle Grove, Sibley, Marshall and Odebolt, Iowa. She married Glenn Lorenzen on Aug. 30, 1969. The couple farmed in Silver Creek Township, Ida County, Iowa. They retired in 1983, and divided their time between Sun Lakes, Ariz., and the Ida Grove area. She was active in Rainbow, Silver Creek United Methodist Women and other church activities. She served as a Past Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband; her mother of Correctionville; a brother and his wife, Donald and Mamie Joy of Cushing, Iowa; and a niece and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Larry Craig Joy. Pallbearers will be Bruce, Bob and Ron Lorenzen, Donnie and Tom Joy and John Currie.
