JEWELL, IA.-Irene M. Thompson, 83, formerly of Jewell died of a heart ailment Saturday at the Stratford Care Center, where she had been a resident for seven months. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Lutheran Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery here.

Mrs. Thompson, a homemaker, was born in Kanawha, Ia., and lived in Clear Lake before moving to Jewell over 40 years ago. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Bethesda Lutheran Church, the National Wildlife Association and the American Music Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Dettbarn of Huxley; a sister, Sadie Riley of Eagle Grove; and one grandson.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.
