Gladys Thompson of Excelsior, Minn., a former Webster City resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at the Golden Living Center at Excelsior. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at the Foster Chapel. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fosters from 10 to 11 a.m. Gladys Leona Graham, daughter of Oscar and Anna Loughry Graham, was born March 5, 1918 on a farm north of Blairsburg. She received her education in rural schools near Blairsburg and graduated from Blairsburg Consolidated School. On Oct. 3, 1934, she married Samuel Robert Thompson at Blairsburg. The couple farmed north of Webster City. In 1948, they moved to Webster City. She had been employed at the Edsel Photography Studio and the Messenger Photography Studio. Mr. Thompson died June 26, 1979. She moved to Excelsior in 1980. Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son and daughters-in-law, Robert and Margie Thompson of West Des Moines; Nancy Thompson of Minnetonka, MN; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Robert Hensley of Webster City; sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson of Stanhope; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, Harold Thompson – November of 2006; her parents; brothers and sisters, Anetta Graham; Floyd Graham; Basil Graham; Melvin Graham; Ivyl Graham; Bernard Graham; Ilene Graham; Gertrude Lillegard; Anna Van Hoozer and Donald Graham. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist. Gladys’ greatest joy was her family and friends and her legacy abounds with the expression of God’s love she shared with us all at every opportunity. She will be greatly missed!
