MASON CITY, IA --Vivian Galloway, 85, passed away Monday (July 29, 1996) at the Heritage Care Center. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond, with Dennis Free, from Chicago, Ill., officiating. Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.

Vivian was born on Nov. 10, 1910, in McKenzie, N.D., the daughter of Henry and Mary (Calhoun) Polmateer. She graduated from Renwick High School. On May 10, 1929, Vivian was united in marriage to Merrold Galloway. Following their marriage, they resided in the Belmond and Hampton areas. In 1942, the couple moved to Mason City where Vivian was employed by Mode-O-Day on the sewing line. After retiring in 1986, Vivian enjoyed reading and spending as much time with family as possible. Vivian was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City.

Vivian is survived by three granddaughters: Mrs. Chuck (Debra) Ross of Huron, S.D.; Mrs. Micheal (Karen) Murphy of Montigue, Calif.; Denise Symes of Mason City; one grandson, Dennis Free and his wife, Marilyn, of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Ella Drescher of Omaha, Neb.; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrold; three children: Carol Free, Darlene Foley and Robert Galloway; one great-granddaughter; her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
