William “Bill” Ingle, age 83, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born January 19, 1925, the son of Lawrence and Ethel Snyder Ingle in Peru, Indiana. He graduated from High School in Onward, Indiana in 1943. Bill was drafted into the United States Marine Corp Infantry in November, 1943. He fought in Iwa Jima and was honorably discharged in March, 1946. He was later recalled to active duty for the Korean War from 1950 to 1951. Bill was united in marriage with Irene Lucille Franke on April 16, 1946, in Clarion, Iowa. Bill worked for various farmers and they lived in Indiana for a time. Bill and Irene moved to Clarksville in December, 1946 when he became employed at Voss Elevator. He later worked for Farm Services and then Koering Co. in Waverly, retiring December 1, 1987. Bill was a life-long member of the Clarksville AMVETs Post #30. He was a member of the VFW #15016 and past Commander of the Third District of the AMVETs. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping. His garden was productive and he shared much of what he grew. Bill’s family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him. Bill died Saturday, October, 11, 2008 at Waverly Health Care Center of natural causes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Elijah Greenwald, five brothers, Joe, John and Ed and two in infancy; and one sister, Anna May DuSchene. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene Ingle, Clarksville, Iowa; one son, Randy Ingle, Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Carolyn (Ed) Rondthaler, Cedar City, Utah and Glenda (Randy) Schell, Clarksville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Bill Greenwald, Dan Schell, Becky (Tony) Ferrara, Angie (Kyle) Haack; seven great-grandchildren, Ben and Jacob Greenwald, Hanna Schell, Olivia and Frankie Wildmann, Kennedy and Addison Haack and two step-great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa Ferrara.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the Community United Methodist Church, Clarksville, Iowa with Rev. Christine Pauley and Dan Schell officiating. Organist was Lola Clark. Vocalist was Bill’s nephew, David Ingle who sang “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art”. Special Music was a “Medley” by Bill’s Great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Addison and Hanna and “Farside Banks of Jordan” by Johnny Cash. Casketbearers were Ted Sinram, Roger Sherburne, Scott Holub, Dan Schell, Kyle Haack and Randy Schell. Honorary Casketbearers were Bob Voigts, Richard McElhaney and Fred Kelm. Flower Committee was Julie Holub and Deb Sherburne. Burial was in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Iowa with Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
