Dorothy B. Rasmussen, 97, of Eagle Grove, formerly of Hardy, passed away Dec. 22, 2008 at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at the Renwick United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. She will be laid to rest in Vernon Township Cemetery, Hardy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Avis Rasmussen of Goldfield, Donald and Anita Rasmussen of Webster City, and David and Kay Rasmussen of New Hampton; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard L. Rasmussen; sister, Helen DeVore; and brothers, Lysle E. and Warren E. Wilson.

Dorothy Belle Wilson, the daughter of Lewis E. and Ora Belle Wilson, was born May 9, 1911 at Eagle Grove. She received her education at Eagle Grove where she served as editor of the school newspaper and graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1930. She was united in marriage to Howard L. Rasmussen on February 16, 1931 at Eagle Grove. The couple made their home at Hardy where they had their farming operations. Following their retirement, they moved to the Meadows at Clarion in 1993, until moving to the Long-Term Care Facility at the Clarion Community Hospital. Mr. Rasmussen passed away in 1998 and in 2007, Dorothy became a resident of Rotary Ann North in Eagle Grove. She passed away there on the evening of Dec. 22, 2008 at the age of 97. Dorothy was a member of the Hardy United Methodist Church and later the Clarion United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Hardy Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Furthermore, she served in many church offices, including serving as the secretary and treasurer for many years. She was an avid cook and gardener and loved to play cars, Scrabble, and entertain guests. She also enjoyed knitting afghans for all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed accompanying Howard on many trips throughout the United States and they spent many hours together at some of Howard's favorite fishing holes.
