Helen P. (Olson) Casey, the daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Pedersen) Olson, was born on March 10, 1929, in Kanawha, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. Helen was united in marriage to Marvin Casey on July 2, 1968, in Ames, Iowa. Helen worked for the Des Moines Register and was a keypunch operator at Iowa State University for over 25 years.
Helen passed away December 15, 2008, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 79 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brother, Kenneth and great-nephews, Alec Lawson and Jorma Bentley. Helen enjoyed sewing, painting and ceramics; which she received several ribbons at the Wright County Fair. She was also a 500 card game player. Survivors include her sisters, Mildred Lofgreen (Kenneth) of Salt Lake City, UT, Vivian Crandall (Toby) of Eagle Grove; and brother, Alvin Olson (Elaine) of Eagle Grove, sister-in-law, Joanne Olson of Eagle Grove and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor Stan Peterson officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the Funeral Home. Private family burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
