RENWICK- Eleanor I. Swanson died on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Lake Lutheran Church, rural Renwick, with Pastors Truman Larson and Lynn Noel officiating. Inurnment will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Hardy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Garry-Roberts- Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick is in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor (Elm) Swanson was born on Dec. 24, 1922, at Duncombe to Elmer and Minnie Davidson Elm. She attended schools in the Thor, Eagle Grove area. She continued her education at Eagle Grove Jr. College and Drake. Eleanor married Lloyd Swanson on Sept. 20, 1947, at Thor. The couple farmed west of Renwick until early 1950's. Lloyd and Eleanor moved into Renwick, where Eleanor enjoyed teaching school for many years. Eleanor was a member of the Lake Lutheran Church near Renwick. Eleanor and Lloyd enjoyed many years in retirement, golfing, fishing, traveling and wintering in Arizona.

Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Kirk and wife Sandy, Renwick, and their son, Josh and wife, Meghan and great granddaughter, Ava Jean, Greensboro, N.C., Kim and Linda, Gilmore City, and Kim's daughters, Natalie, Santa Clara, Calif. and Andrea, Denver, Colo. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Kent, sister, Elvera Mickelson and brother, Richard Elm.
