ARLINGTON, TX - Evelyn Robinson Shaw, 85, a retired registered nurse, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at an Arlington hospital. Her ashes will be interred in the Robinson family plot in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Evelyn Robinson Shaw was born March 19, 1914, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on the family farm. As a career registered nurse, she attended to Hollywood movie stars, was nursing director of a mental institution and administrator of a nursing home. She was a member of the Emblem Club and began a scholarship program, recognizing the potential of young men and women. The outdoors was her refuge and novels and crosswords kept her mind keen. Her poetry reflected her love of life, her family and her God. She enjoyed good jokes and fine martinis and was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers. She was kind to all species and believed that God had prepared a home for her when her work on earth was done. She was known to all as simply "Gram."

Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jack Monahan of Arlington; her son, Mike Shaw of Los Angeles, Calif.; beloved grandsons, Lt. John Monahan of Arlington and Kenny Shaw of Los Angeles; loving extended family, Sharon and Ben Fountain, John and Lee of Dallas, Teresa and Bob Muzzey and Christopher of Canterbury, N.H.; stepsister, Elizabeth Parks and Elizabeth, Lyle and Annie Fehrenbacher of Dallas; Jamie Parks and Maureen Murphy and their families Special thanks to Judy Lyle, Marilyn Schmitt, Marilyn and Ernie Birk and their son, Roy, who was like a son to Evelyn, for their countless hours of love and caring, and to the many others who brightened her days along the way. Evelyn Robinson was born March 19, 1914, on the Robinson family farm in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to J. W. "Bill" Robinson and Eva Laura Robinson. She attended Eagle Grove elementary and high schools. As a career registered nurse, she attended to Hollywood movie stars, was nursing director of a mental institution and administrator of a nursing home. She was a member of the Emblem Club and began a scholarship program, recognizing the potential of young men and women.

Evelyn Robinson Shaw died Monday, July 26, 1999, at Arlington, Texas, at the age of 85. She is survived by one daughter, Pam Monahan, and husband, Jack, Arlington, Texas; one son, Mike Shaw, Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandsons; her extended family, Sharon and Ben Fountain, John and Lee of Dallas, Texas, Teresa and Bob Muzzey and Christopher, Canterbury, N. H.; one step-sister, Elizabeth Parks and Elizabeth, Lyle and Annie Fehrenbacher, Dallas; Jamie Parks and Maureen Murphy and their families; and Judy Lyle, Marilyn Schmitt, Marilyn and Ernie Birk and their son, Roy, who was like a son.

Evelyn Shaw's ashes will be interred in the Robinson family plot at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
