September 28, 1932 -- January 3, 2007

Ruth Burton, 74, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Minister Ted Morelock officiating. Burial will be in West Ullensvang Cemetery, south of Thor. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving is her husband, Donald; their children and spouses, Lynne Peterson and her husband Lee of Badger, Leah Morelock and her husband Ted of Nebo, KY, Barry Burton and his wife Lisa of Hibbing, MN; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Jack Lewis of St. Joe, MO; sisters, Wilma Henderson of Council Bluffs and Jean Biggs of Webb City, MO. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William and Isadora (Wimbish) Lewis.

Ruth H. Lewis was born September 28, 1932, in Longview, TX, the 3rd child of W.E. and Dora Lewis. Her elementary education was in Kansas and Nebraska, graduating from Whiting, Iowa High School in 1950. Following high school graduation she attended Commercial Extension School of Business in Omaha, NE. December 4, 1949, at age 17, Ruth was immersed into Christ at the Whiting Christian Church. She remained faithful to her Lord her entire life. On June 1, 1952 she was united in marriage to Donald L. Burton at the Christian Church in Whiting. In 1955 they established their home in Sheldon where they made their home for 36 years. For a number of years, Ruth worked at Sheldon Federal Savings and Loan and KT Industries. While living at Sheldon, Ruth was an active member of the Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and played the piano for over 30 years. After Don retired in 1995, they moved to Hibbing, MN and in 2002, they moved to Fort Dodge. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
