Glennavon (Edwards) Loosmore (Age 94)

Died November 16, 2008 in Spokane, WA. She was born November 17, 1913 on a Homestead north of Colville, WA to her parents Charles and Helena Edwards, both deceased. She joined three older brothers, Cleo, Gerald and Verl, all who preceded her in death. Each was a great loss to the "Sister left behind". At the age of one year, the family moved to Dows, IA, where they remained until 1929 when they moved to Spokane. Glennavon attended Regal Grade School and Hillyard High School, graduating in June 1931. Following graduation, she was employed as Secretary to the Owner of the former Granada Theatre. It was sold and she was employed as Secretary to the City Manager of the Evergreen Theatres (Consisting of the Fox, State, Orpheum and Liberty), for about 10 years. Glennavon married Robert Loosmore November 6, 1937. He died March 22, 1998. They were among the original members of St. Charles Catholic Church, active in the former St. Joseph's Children's Home, the Gonzaga Preparatory School and Gonzaga University. Both enjoyed fishing and golf. Glennavon belonged to the Ladies' Clubs at Indian Canyon, Downriver and Esmeralda at various times. She was a fan of many sports, but she also loved her home, flowers and friends. The many nieces, nephews and god children have filled the absence of a family of her own and were appreciated. Visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2008 from 12 Noon to 5 PM and a Vigil Service will begin at 5 PM, both held at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 12 Noon at the St. Charles Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Charles Catholic Church, 4515 N. Alberta St., Spokane, WA 99205, or to the charity of your choice. Hennessey Funeral Home.
