Janella "Jane" Paine McGee, 91, of Corvallis, Oregon, died October 14, 2004 in Corvallis after a long illness. A family service will be held at a later time. Ashes will be placed in a crematorium in Green Valley, Arizona.
She was born in Wright County, Iowa, on August 4, 1913, the third of seven children of Roger and Bess Paine. The family moved to Ree Heights, S.D., where they lived on a ranch south of town and later moved into town. Jane attended school in Ree Heights, and later the University of Minnesota. She married Wayne McGee March 10, 1935. The couple had three sons, Marlen, Ray and Dennis. They operated a dry goods store in Ree Heights for a number of years and then were partners with her brother-in-law and her sister, Clare and Orilla (Paine) Cahoon in Ree Farm Equipment (aka Ree Heights Implement) store from 1954-1973. She was active in community affairs and was a long-time member of the Ree Heights Congregational Church (UCC) and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was church organist for a number of years. After retirement the McGees moved to Green Valley, Ariz., where they spent much of their later years. In 2003 they moved to Corvallis, Ore., and she lived in a nursing home there until her death.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wayne, Corvallis, Ore.; sons Marlen of Tucson, Ariz.; Ray of St. Paul, Minn.; and Dennis (Mary Ann) of Corvallis, Ore.; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one brother, David Paine of Owatonna, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Florence Nicholas, Betty Specker, Orilla Cahoon and Lois Deuter; and one brother, Roger "Bud" Paine.
