SALEM - Betty Drury, 82, passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2008. She was born in Belmond, Iowa to Clarence and Phoebe Busick. Betty married Jess O. Drury on November 23, 1943. Her sister, Bonnie Walz, resides in Salem. Betty and Jess enjoyed camping, rock hounding, square dancing, and spending time with their family. She retired from State Farm Insurance as an auto underwriter in 1988 after nearly 30 years of service. Following her husband's death in 1992, Betty continued to travel around the United States and the countries of England, Ireland, and Scotland, to name a few. Betty is survived by her son, Jess (Jan) Drury of Springfield; daughters, Patty (Bob) Lewis and Rose (Doug) Hedlund; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all. Friends and family are invited to her funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 11 at Restlawn Funeral Home, Salem. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, where Betty will be laid to rest next to Jess. Donations may be made to a Parkinson's research foundation of your choice.
