Fort Dodge MessengerHUMBOLDT — Evelyn Larson, 77, of Thor, IA, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt, IA. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Badger Lutheran Church in Badger with Rev. Darryl Landsverk officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Badger Lutheran Church in Badger. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Fort Dodge is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Norman; two children, LuAnn Larson Stevenson of Goldfield, IA and Randy (Sharon) Larson of Wheaton, IL; four grandchildren, Spencer Stevenson, Mary Beth Broda, Katie and Michael Larson. She is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Mildred Schoepke; Laura (Sheldon) Sidmore; Gladys O’Tool; Pauline (Keith) Martin; Billie (Tony) Hardyk; Mervin (Rachel) Berg; and Alan (Shirley) Berg; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Hulda (Johnson) Berg, an infant granddaughter Erin Lynn Larson, brothers Carl, Elmer, Richard, and her sister Irene.
Evelyn Hulda Berg was born March 28, 1930 in Rockwell City, Iowa and graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1947. On December 2, 1951, Evelyn married Norman Larson in Piper, Iowa. After their marriage, Norman served 18 months in the US Army while Evelyn worked as a social worker in Rockwell City. After her husband came back from serving in the military she continued to work as a social worker until 1956 when they moved to the Badger area where they farmed until 2004 when they retired. In November of 2007, Evelyn moved to the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt. Memorials may be left to the Badger Lutheran Church.
