J. Thomas Lee, 57, of 806 Kirkwood Ave., formerly of Thor, Iowa, died of cancer Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, in his home. There will be no funeral services. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy. A memorial service will be held later this year.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; and Loki, Albert, Issa and Basho. His parents died earlier. Tom Lee was born a first generation Norwegian-American on Oct. 21, 1939, in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Humboldt High School and attended Luther College. Tom served in the Army, where he played tuba in the military band. He was employed as a senior computer operator at NCS. He was a member of the American Lily Society, Iowa City Keyboard Society and University of Iowa Museum of Art Print and Drawing Study Club. Tom married Debra Gabrielson in 1983. Their years together were filled with joy. Tom passionately loved the arts and sciences. His love of music and art had a profound influence on many who knew him. He was devoted to all things bright and beautiful. Through his gardening, he nurtured much beauty into existence for everyone's enjoyment. His kind and gentle nature and sense of humor will be missed by his family, friends and associates. Instead of flowers, donations may be sent to Iowa City Hospice and the music fund of Trinity Episcopal Church, Iowa City.
