Mildred "Mickey" Luella Guhl Heggen, 90, of Story City, died Wednesday, April 2, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Services will be at 0 p.m. Monday, April 7,at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, with the Rev. Glenn Kappelmann and the Rev. Jim Adix officiating. Burial will be in Slater Cemetery.

Mickey Heggen was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Vincent, the daughter of Albert Henry Frederick and Anna Julia (Wilson) Guhl. She married Miller Stanley Heggen of Slater Dec. 23, 1942, in Jewell. She graaduated from Jewell High School and Iowa Falls Conservatory of Music. She worked in retail sales at White's Dress Shop in Ames. She had been a resident of Ames for 46 years. She also had lived in Vincent, Jewell, Boone, Slater, Humboldt, Story City and Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

She is survived by two daughters, Marcia (James) Adix of Marion and Mary Kesner (Brian) of Los Osos, Calif.; one son, Mark Heggen (Gayla) of Rocklin, Calif.; two sisters, Alma Thorsbakken of Story City and Lillian Guhl of Story City; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; her parents; four brothers, Otto Guhl, George Guhl, Clarence Guhl and Albert Guhl Jr.; and one sister, Emma Isvik.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Bethany Manor in Story City. A prayer service will be at 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames or South Hamilton High School Vocal Music Department in Jewell. Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
