ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - Ronald Dean Thompson, 66, of Rock Island died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Rock Island Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island. In accordance with his wishes, his body will be cremated and no services will be held. Private interment of his cremated remains will take place at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Ronald was born July 16, 1942, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Frank and Anna Marie (Peterson) Thompson. Ronald was a veteran, having served honorably with the U.S. Air Force. He worked in the construction industry for 30 years, working for the Laborers' Union Local 309, Rock Island. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed fishing.

Ronald is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Mildred Thompson, Belmond, Iowa, and Marvin and Margie Thompson, Guthrie Center, Iowa; stepson, Michael Dudley, Davenport, and friend, Maureen Abbott, Davenport. In addition to his parents, a brother, Harold Thompson, and a sister, Mary Benson, preceded him in death.
