E. Ruth Martin

March 21, 1921 - Oct. 8, 2008

A graveside service will be held for E. Ruth Martin, 87, of Coos Bay, at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, 405 Elrod Ave., Coos Bay.

Ruth was born March 21, 1921, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Herbert and Parla S. "Pearl" (Lawson) Schueller. She died Oct. 8, 2008, in Coos Bay. She was raised and educated in Clarion, Iowa. She moved to Denver, Colo., where she met Robert Eugene Martin and they were married April 25, 1947. Ruth worked for Western Union and United Airlines in Denver and later as a secretary for a pharmacy until moving to Coos Bay in 1978. She was a member of and a past president by demit of the Coquille Emblem Club. She was a wonderful and loving wife and mother, a proud homemaker and she also enjoyed knitting.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Eugene Martin Sr. of Coos Bay; son, Robert Eugene Martin Jr. of Coos Bay; brother, Paul Schueller of Brooksville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert E. Martin. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary.
