Wilma A. Brisbin, 95, teacher, avid reader

Wilma Ann Brisbin, the daughter of Herbert and Maude (McBride) Marley, was born December 17, 1912, in Wright County, Iowa. She attended country school in Troy Township and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1930. She attended Eagle Grove Junior College for one year and then taught country school for three years. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Brisbin on June 4, 1934, in Eagle Grove. The couple lived in their country home and farmed on the outskirts of Eagle Grove for fifty years. Don preceded her in death on December 8, 1975. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1946 and active in Esther Circle. She also participated in Equality Club, White Shrine, and Sicilian Music Club. She was an avid reader, cross-stitch enthusiast, quilter, and loved word puzzles.

Wilma Brisbin died Sunday, September 28, 2008, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 95 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister, Eva Lucille, brother, Warren Marley; and daughter-in-law, Joanne Brisbin. Survivors include her son, Robert L. Brisbin of Cary, N. C.; three grandchildren: Randy Lindsay-Brisbin (Melanie) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Leanne Brisbin (Keith Pedersen) of Cary, N.C., and Jolynne Fleck (Mike) of Greensboro, N.C., and four great-grandchildren (Jenna, Luke, Tara, and Abby).

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, at 10:30 a.m., at United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor L. J. Hartley officiating. Visitation is Thursday (today) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove (421 W. Broadway, 50533), or the Rotary Ann Homes (620 SE 5th, 50533), in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.
