Orville G. Boyd, 80, Jewell, died September 23, 2008. Funeral services were held September 26 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with interment at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Orville George was born December 1, 1927 in Story City. He graduated from Story City High School. He married Ida M. Meyers and they raised five children. He was an Army veteran of both WWII and the Korean War and worked as a maintenance engineer at the Belmond Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Emma (Schlafke) Boyd; daughter Susan; brother Walter; and sister Marjorie. Survivors include his wife; sons Michael (Kris) of Jewell and Kevin (PJ) of Windsor Heights; daughters Kay (Pat) Kinsella of Duluth and Kristin (Curt) Perkins of Madrid; son-in-law Frank Thompson of Ellsworth; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Eldon of Arkansas and Marion of Texas; sisters Mabel Schroeder of Charles City and Gertrude Dickinson of Jewel; and aunt Olive Schlafke of Jewell. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Visitation: Visitation will be in the church on Thursday evening from 5 to 7:00pm.Orville George Boyd, age 80, of Jewell, IA, passed away at his son's home in Windsor Heights, IA after a lengthy illness. He had been under Hospice Care. Orville was born and raised in Story City, IA and graduated high school there. He served his country honorably in the Army during both WWII and the Korean War. He worked as a maintenance engineer at Belmond Community Hospital. He married Ida M. Myers and together they raised five children.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Boyd of Jewell; sons, Michael (Kris) of Jewell, and Kevin (PJ) of Windsor Heights; daughters, Kay (Pat) Kinsella of Duluth, MN, and Kristin (Curt) Perkins of Madrid, IA; son-in-law Frank Thompson of Ellsworth, IA; 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He also leaves 2 brothers, Eldon in AR and Marion in TX; 2 sisters, Mabel Schroeder in Charles City, IA and Gertrude Dickinson in Jewell, IA; and his aunt, Olive Schlafke in Jewell. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma (Schlafke) Boyd; daughter, Susan; brother, Walter; and sister, Marjorie. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or his church.
