Arlan Eugene McPherson, the son of Arlan and Amy (Whipple) McPherson, was born February 3, 1952, in Algona, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Humboldt. He received his Associate Degree in Mechanical Drafting from Iowa Central Community College. Arlan married Shannon Guggisberg on May 24, 1986 in Nashua, Iowa. Arlan passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at his home in Eagle Grove at the age of 56 years. He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, step-mother; two brothers; a grandson; a nephew and a niece.Arlan was a man of nature; he loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing cards, attending sporting events, and visiting with everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon McPherson of Eagle Grove; children: Lance McPherson of Eagle Grove, Tara McPherson of Eagle Grove, Amber McPherson of Des Moines, Jessica Lilly of Des Moines and Melissa McPherson of Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Jaden, Alejandra, Melissa, Ana, Carlos, Lily and Keagan; two sisters, Laurie McPherson of Eagle Grove and Melanie Clay and husband Rick of Goldfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, September 26, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, with Rev. L. J. Hartley officiating. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
