Matilda V. White, 94, of Le Mars, formerly of Renwick, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Matilda Violet White was born Feb. 18, 1911, on a farm near Renwick, the daughter of Henry and Jennie (Rasmussen) Bram. She graduated from Vernon School in Humbolt County, Iowa in 1930. Prior to her marriage she worked as a housekeeper for various families in the area. On June 5, 1935, Matilda and Ralph A. White were united in marriage at her parents home in Renwick. The couple made their home in Renwick, where Matilda worked as a cook in the Vernon and Renwick school buildings. She cooked for the schools for 18 years. Her husband Ralph died in June 1959. She later cooked at the Brayton Restaurant in Hardy, and Peg's Restaurant in Renwick for 12 years. Matilda moved to Le Mars on June 13, 1998, to be closer to her family.

Matilda was a member of the Renwick United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she was baptized as a young child. She was also a longtime member of Ladies' Aid. Matilda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a 50-year member of the Literary Guild, and belonged to the Neighborhood Birthday Club and the Senior Citizens. Her family will always remember how much Matilda enjoyed baking for them and others. Matilda also liked yardwork, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid letter writer and used her skills to keep in touch with her family. She joined the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars on June 27, 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Roxie Ann Anderson and her husband, Jim of Le Mars; a granddaughter, Marlene Sale and her husband, Devin and their children Bradley, Austin and Nicole of Carmel, Ind.; a grandson, Ed Anderson of Le Mars; a stepson Jim White and his family of Hardy; two step-grandchildren, Kathy Schipull and Scott White; and two step-great-grandchildren, Crystal Leslie Schipull. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph; five sisters Doris Withers, Bertie Dunlap, Anita Olsen, Eldine Adams, and Jennie Norden; two brothers Fred and Lewis Bram.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Renwick United Methodist Church in Renwick, with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery, rural Renwick. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. conducted by Pastor Jason Larson of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Brad Bram, Steve Bram, Doug Bram, Paul Anderson, John Nissen and Jay Nissen.
