Donald E. Blesie, 87, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery of Lenexa Mausoleum.

Donald was born on May 13, 1915, in Renwick, IA, the son of William and Inda (Packard) Blesie. He married his wife, Virginia, in Omaha, NE, in 1954; she preceded him in death on May 3, 1989. Mr. Blesie joined the U.S. Army in 1942, and served in WWII before his discharge in 1946. After his time in the military, he went to work as a Senior Accountant for the Standard Oil Company. He is survived by his son, William Dale Blesie and his wife, Elizabeth, Loveland, CO; two sisters, Dorothy Prang, Lorraine Axtell, both of Iowa; two grandchildren, James Dale Blesie, Olathe, KS, Karen Marie Blesie, Overland Park, KS; two stepgrandchildren, Christy Barnett, Olathe, KS, Chase Savage, Independence, MO; one great-grandchild, Dylan James Blesie, Olathe, KS; one stepgreatgrandchild, Taylor Barnett, Olathe, KS; and his special friend, Marie Opfer. Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, one brother, Dale Blesie, and one sister, Delores Orlando. Arrangements: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS
