August 14, 2008Lloyd F. Levien, 90, of Iowa City, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Greenwood Manor following an extended illness. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Memorials can be made in Lloyd's memory to Zion Lutheran Church.
Lloyd was one of triplets born Jan. 13, 1918, in Renwick, Iowa, the son of Herman and Elsie (Peckenschnieder) Levien. He attended school in Manilla, Iowa. After school Lloyd joined the United States Navy and served in World War II. Following the war he was married to Alice Bucks on Nov. 12, 1950; the two moved to Iowa City in 1953 where they owned and operated the Wee Wash, Quick Service Laundry in Iowa City. He was a member of Alliance for Mental Illness of Johnson County, Zion Lutheran Church and was an avid bowler and golfer. Lloyd's family includes son, Doug Levien of Washington, Iowa; triplet brother, Lawrence Levien of Hot Springs, Ark.; and loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; triplet brother, Lester; and younger brother, Leo. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Lloyd's family.
