09/20/1996Arlene Eno, 79, of Sheffield, Iowa died Thursday (Sept. 19, 1996) at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Beard officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral Home.
Arlene Eno was born on Nov. 4, 1916, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Koenen) Heitland, on the family farm near Meservey. She attended the country schools in the Meservey and Thornton areas. Following school, she helped on the family farm taking care of her family. She was united in marriage to Walter Eno in the First Reformed Church of Meservey on Nov. 7, 1936. They made their home farming in the Sheffield area. She enjoyed collecting birds and was a very good cook, setting aside every Friday for homemade bread and her special baking. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield.
She is survived by her husband, Walter, of Sheffield; two sons, Gordon and his wife, Mae, of Corona, Calif., and Jack and his wife, Cheryl, of Sheffield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roger Heitland and his wife, Alice, of Thornton. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
