MASON CITY — Arald D. Rowley, 77, of Mason City, died Monday (Oct. 12, 1998) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Chris Hellevik, of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, with a service at 6 p.m. conducted by the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 1328. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services on Friday.
Arald Duane Rowley was born Dec. 13, 1920, in Kanawha, the son of Elmer Jacobson and Rosa Cristina (Rasmussen) Rowley. He graduated from Kanawha High School. Arald served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a sergeant. He was honorably discharged at the Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, on Feb. 27, 1946. On May 25, 1947, he married DeLoris Thompson, at Belmond.
Arald enjoyed puzzles and fishing. He also enjoyed doing volunteer work with the RSVP and at the Senior Center in Mason City until ill health prevented it. He was a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 1328, Mason City, and also a member of the Americana Legion, Post No. 101, Mason City and the Mason City Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife, DeLoris Rowley, Mason City; three children, Arald R. Rowley and his wife, Kathy, of Sumner, Wash.; Fonda Svatek and her friend, David, of Houston; and Jerry A. Rowley and his wife, Karen, of Bremerton, Wash.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Forest Rowley, of Laton, Utah; Keith Rowley, of Marshalltown; Viola Shahan, of Las Vegas; and Edward Rowley, of Middleton, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Lewis.
