BURT, Iowa - Rex Larson, 84, of Burt, Iowa, died on Monday, May 22, 2006, at the Heritage Home in Bancroft, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Community Chapel in Lakota with burial in Memorial Park in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Burt.

Rex W. Larson was born May 20, 1922, in Meservey, Iowa, the son of Wilhelm and Virgie (Halfpap) Larson. He attended school in Meservey and Webster City. On March 9, 1947, Rex was united in marriage with Dorothy Blanck in Webster City, Iowa. They lived in Davenport for nearly 30 years. Rex worked for Oscar Mayer in Davenport, retiring in 1980. They then moved to an acreage in Fortune, Missouri, where he specialized in wholesale gardening. After a tornado in 1981, Rex and Dorothy moved to Burt, where Rex worked with his brother, Paul, in a metal scrap business until poor health in March 2000. He belonged to the Community Chapel in Lakota. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Larson is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Burt; three sons, Rex Larson, Jr., and his wife, Marti, of Ottumwa, Kim Larson, and his wife, Tina, of Middleville, Michigan, and Dana Larson, and his wife, Lynda, of Davenport; a daughter, Kristie Muncie, and her husband, Jack, of Arkansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Larson, of Burt, and Gene Larson, and his wife, Leona, of Seneca; and a sister, Starr Reyes, of Littleton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Owen Larson, and a sister, Opal Fish.
