Frank Hafermann, 78, formerly of Meservey, died on Monday, October 30, 2002, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 3, at the Retz-Grarup Funeral Home in Meservey, with Rev. Rodney Meester presiding. Interment was in the Meservey Cemetery.

Frank Emil, was born at home in Meservey to Albert and Emma (Benz) Hafermann on February 12, 1928. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Reformed in Meservey and graduated from the Meservey High School. Frank farmed with his family and then managed the family farms in later years. He married Elsebeth Anne Garner, on July 31, 1970 at the County Mission Church in Swaledale. They made their home in Meservey where Frank served as Mayor for 15 years. He was involved in the Area Community Commonwealth and at the Country Mission Church, where he helped with children's camps and sang in the choir. Frank suffered a brain aneurysm in 1990 and moved to the Sheffield Care Center in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister. Survivors include his wife of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and cousins including Daryl (Lois Ann) Hafermann of Thornton, Vern Janssen of Belmond and Scott (Jo) Hafermann of Goodell.
