BELMOND - Darlene Ruth Aldrich, 80, of Belmond, formerly of Rowan, died Sunday (July 27, 2008) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond. Memorial services for Darlene Aldrich will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond. Inurnment will be at the Graceland Cemetery near Rowan.

Darlene and twin brother, Daryle, were born to James Edward and Minnie Margaret Ehler Ryan, on Dec. 11, 1927, in Rockwell City, Iowa. Darlene attended schools in Rockwell City, Dows, and Rowan. Darlene was united in marriage to Roland Aldrich on June 1, 1964. They made their home south of Rowan until Roland's death. On June 1, 1996, Darlene moved to the Belmond Apartments where she made many friends. She loved helping with the congregate meals and was always willing to do something for someone who needed help. She moved to the Belmond Health Center in December of 1999.

Darlene is survived by a brother, Ed (Marjorie) Ryan of Belmond; and a sister, Elsie Rockow Schroeder (Wilbur) of Dows; step-children, Holly Herren, Leilani Johnston, Dennis Aldrich, Janet Mesarvy, James Aldrich, and Curtis Aldrich; sister-in-law, Verna Ryan; many nieces and nephews. Preceding Darlene in death were her husband, Roland, brothers Daryle, Harold, Walter, and Glen Ryan; and sisters, Alice Slatkoske, Ethel Korth, and Jean Walrod. Dugger Funeral Home.
