Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, IAClarence Hilpipre, 81, of Webster City, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m Thursday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191.
Clarence Hilpipre, son of August and Fanny Emmenderfor Hilpipre, was born May 7, 1927 at Blairsburg. He received his education in rural schools near Blairsburg. He started farming with his father and had farmed east of Woolstock for over 60 years. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army. He moved to Webster City in 2002.
He is survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Thurman Lappin, Irene Barkema, brother, Marcel Hilpipre, all of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and George Story; Erma and Harold Stuhmer; Hortense and Marvin Mortensen; Raymond Barkema; brothers an sisters-in-law, Edmund and Gertrude Hilpipre; Glen and Pat Hilpipre; also 3 brothers; in infancy. He was a past member of American Legion Post # 191.
