Mason City Globe Gazette, IAJune E. Nieman, 82, of Kanawha, passed away Saturday (January 25, 2003) at Westview Care Center in Britt, where she had been a resident since April of 2000. Funeral services for June Nieman will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Chuck Walton officiating. Burial will take place in Amsterdam Township Cemetery near Kanawha.
Friends may greet the family today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home at 118 East 2nd St. in Kanawha, and one hour prior to services at the church.June, the daughter of John and Cora Roushia Blank, was born on June 27, 1920, in Britt. She received her education in Amsterdam country school. On January 2, 1940, June was united in marriage with John H. Nieman at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church parsonage. The couple made their home and farmed in the Kanawha area. June loved to help John in the farming operation. John and June retired from farming in 1980 and the couple moved into Kanawha in 1987.
June was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church where she enjoyed attending Ladies Aid. She also spent many enjoyable hours baking cookies, crocheting doilies, afghans, baby sweater sets and baby afghans many of which she gave to her nieces and nephews.
June is survived by two brothers; Paul Blank and his wife, Louise, of Nashville, Ark., J. E. "Cap" Blank and his wife, Nadine, of Tonto Basin, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Margaret Uthe and her husband, Joe, of Boone; brother-in-law, Martin Nieman and his wife, Joyce, of Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; one sister, Dorothy Nieman; and four brothers, Irvin "Bodie", Alvin "Joe", Cecil, and one in infancy. Ewing Dugger Funeral Home.
