Raymond E. Eekhoff, 79, of Britt, passed away Monday (June 9, 2003) while on a fishing trip in Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha with Pastor Chuck Walton officiating. Burial will be in Wright Christian Reformed Church Cemetery near Kanawha. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, 118 E. Second St. Kanawha and one hour prior to services at the church. Ewing Dugger Funeral Home.

Services are today for Ray Eekhoff, 77

Funeral services for Raymond E. Eekhoff, 77, will be Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Chuck Walton will officiate. Special music will be provided by Marilyn DeKruyff, organist, and Bob Engh, soloist. He will sing "Oh, What A Day That Will Be". The congregational hymns will be "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "By the Sea of Crystal". The honorary casketbearers are Howard and Birdene Jutting, Glen and Carolyn Ruter, Harold and Audrey Naefke, Clarence and Gen Seebeck, Harry and JoAnn Peters, Carroll and Edith Burras and Don and Lois Goeman. The Casketbearers are Scott Eekhoff, Denny Kraft, Henry Eekhoff, Vern Eekhoff, Al Ruter and Dave Eekhoff. The ushers are Don Eekhoff and John Eekhoff. Interment will be at the Wright Christian Reformed Church Cemetery. The services are under the direction of Ewing Dugger Funeral Home.

Raymond E. Eekhoff of Kanawha died on Monday, June 9, 2003 while on a fishing trip to Minnesota. Ray, the son of Henry and Louisa Riekens Eekhoff, was born November 15, 1925 in Kanawha. He attended country school and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1943. On September 16, 1947 Ray was married to Dorothy Hurlburt at the Wright Christian Reformed Church. The couple farmed near Kanawha for 50 years and moved into Kanawha in 1998. Ray enjoyed telling stories to his grandchildren, golfing, fishing and spending the winters in Arizona. He also enjoyed attending church and singing.

Ray is survived by his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law - Ron and Mary Ellen Eekhoff of Renwick; Jim and Sylvia Eekhoff of Hull; and Tom Eekhoff of Kanawha. He is survived by his daughters - Deb Jahncke of Humboldt and Joanne Eekhoff of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He also leaves ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his sister Ada Assink of Kanawha; brothers and sisters-in-law - Annette Eekhoff of Kanawha; Harold and Ordie Eekhoff of Wellsburg; Harlan and Deloris Eekhoff of Britt; George and Helen Eekhoff, Viola Eekhoff, Paul and Jennie Eekhoff, all of Kanawha. He was preceded in death by his parents; one of Ray's special granddaughters, Shauna Eekhoff; two brothers - Peter Boyd Eekhoff and John Eekhoff; and a brother-in-law, Henry Assink.
