Services Held for Arthur Rietema, 72

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wright Christian Reformed Church for Arthur J. Rietema, 72, longtime area farmer. Mr. Rietema died Friday at the home of a son, John Jr., in Kanawha. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Carter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rietema was born in Wright County and farmed there until 1955 when he moved to Kanawha. He was a former township assessor, a school board member, a director of Dordt College and served on the Consistory of the Wright Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dena; three daughters, Mrs. Wiert (Pearl) Brower, Kanawha; Mrs. Jay (Audrey) Veldhouse, Pella; and Mrs. Tony (Donna) Van Zanton [Zanten], Fairlawn, N.J.; two sons, John Jr., Kanawha and the Rev. Kermit, Denver, Colo.; 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Harm Rothcamp [Roskamp], Marshalltown.
