2 February 1885 -- 20 July 1952

While God's people were wending their way to God's house for worship last Sunday evening, Mrs. Cora Seebeck joined the saints of all ages in the eternal worship in heaven.

Mrs. Seebeck was born on February 2, 1885 to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Abbas near Grundy Center, Iowa. Being baptized in infancy, she has been a life-long member of the body of Christ, making confession of faith after maturity. When she was but four years of age, her parents moved to the vicinity of Kanawha, where she received her education and grew to womanhood. On March 5, 1907 she was united into Holy Matrimony to Charles D. Seebeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seebeck, the wedding taking place at Kanawha. For the past 40 years Mr. and Mrs. Seebeck have lived in this community, first living at Kanawha and later to the vicinity of Britt and to their present homestead. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Seebeck was blessed with eight children: Marie, Cornelia, Ben, Henry, Louis, George, Charles and Clarence.

Mrs. Seebeck was a very faithful member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, seldom missing worship services. She was a faithful and devoted mother giving Christian guidance and instruction unto her family. The interest of other people was also very prominent in her life. The home was broken for the first time when the daughter Cornelia died in infancy and again when Mr. Seebeck passed to his reward on October 9, 1941. Since that time she has continued the operation of the farm with the assistance of her family. For the past 2 years, Mrs. Seebeck has been in ill health and has spent some time in hospitals and in sickness, but only the past 2 months has her illness ever thought to be of an alarming nature. About a week ago, she suffered a severe fall, but seemed to have overcome the effects; however, on Sunday evening she rather quietly passed away at her home in the presence of some of her immediate family, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 18 days.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers and sisters: George Abbas; Tena, who was Mrs. Harm Boekholt; Fannie, who was Mrs. Jake Lutjens; and Nellie, who was Mrs. Henry Reuben. Those surviving are her seven children: Marie, now Mrs. Gerhard Prull of Kanawha; Ben, of Kanawha; Henry, of Britt; Louis, of Belmond; George, of Outlook, Washington; Charles, of Wesley; and Clarence, who resides on the farm home. Also surviving is one son-in-law, 6 daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends

Services were held at the farm home 4-2 miles south of Britt on Wednesday at 1:30 and at 2:00 at the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha, with the Rev. Lugene Bazuin, the Pastor delivering the message of comfort. Interment was held at the Kanawha cemetery. The arrangements were by the Boughton Funeral Home of Britt.
